Born in Nagoya, Japan. His passion for fishing started at the age of 2 with frequent trips to the sea with his father. Experiencing flyfishing in 1992 changed his life and got him into building bamboo rods. Contrary to other bamboo rod makers, his choice material for rods is not "Tonkin" but Japanese bamboo called "Madake." He uses only "Madake" to build his state-of-the-art rods and has tested his product in Japan, the U.S., New Zealand and Europe to prove that it works perfectly wherever fishermen desire to flyfish. After becoming professional in 2000, he has been exhibiting his craftmanship at the Somerset Fly Fishing Show in NJ, U.S.A. annually since 2002.
