07/25/22 Fishing Report

Well would you look at that… Summer is almost gone. Where has the time gone? Even with the time ticking by, the fishing has been pretty consistent these days. Small groups of fish ranging from triples to sometimes one hundred fish at a time have been playing nicely most days. Now, some days you feel like a king and others a fool, but I’ve been happy with the way fish have been behaving lately.

For my fly anglers, we’ve been having most of our luck on either a dark colored fly or an orange/tan combo. Different groups of fish have been keyed in on different colors so make sure you keep a variety in your fly box if you head out.

While of course redfish is king around here, there has been some great action on the ever elusive flat fish and even some speckled trout. While speckled trout may not be the main target this time of year, you can never pass up an opportunity to change the routine up a bit.

When throwing conventional gear, the topwater bite has been producing some great action. Those early mornings before the sun gets up high and it gets hot, walk the dog and hold on! When the topwater slows down, switching up to a spoon or paddle tail on a weedless jig has been working great.

There is still plenty of time to get on the water to get in on the action this summer. Give me a call, text or email and lets get out there!
